Welcome to Nairobi
Arrival in Nairobi
Arrive in Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi, where you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel.

- Optional Activities: Relax at the hotel, or take an optional excursion to the nearby Giraffe Centre or Karen Blixen Museum (at additional cost).
Nairobi to Lake Naivasha
Morning City Tour and Lunch at Carnivore Restaurant
After breakfast, embark on a brief city tour, including highlights like the Nairobi National Museum and landmarks in the city center. Enjoy a unique dining experience at Carnivore Restaurant, famous for its succulent meats and vibrant ambiance.
Afternoon Drive to Lake Naivasha
After lunch, drive to the stunning Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. This freshwater lake is surrounded by dramatic escarpments and teems with birdlife.

Lake Naivasha to Samburu Game Reserve
Scenic Drive via Mount Kenya
After breakfast, journey north past Mount Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve, a rugged, semi-arid park in northern Kenya. Along the way, enjoy views of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak.
Lunch and Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive at the lodge for lunch before embarking on your first game drive in Samburu. Encounter unique wildlife such as Grevy’s zebras, Somali ostriches, and gerenuks. Samburu’s dry landscape is also home to the nomadic Samburu, Rendille, and Boran tribes, offering cultural insights.
Dinner and Overnight: Larsens Camp or Similar (FB).
Full Day in Samburu Game Reserve
Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
Spend the day exploring the incredible Samburu ecosystem, focusing on the Ewaso Nyiro River, the park’s lifeline. The river attracts a variety of wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and lions. Samburu is also known for its rare "Special Five" species:
- Grevy’s zebra
- Reticulated giraffe
- Gerenuk gazelle
- Somali ostrich
- Beisa oryx
Optional Cultural Visit: Visit a Samburu village to learn about their traditions, dances, and way of life (additional cost).

Samburu to Nairobi or Coast
Morning Transfer to Nairobi
After breakfast, bid farewell to Samburu and drive back to Nairobi, arriving by late morning.

Arrive in Nairobi, where you are met by an Abercrombie & Kent representative and escorted to your hotel.
Meet your guide and depart on an excursion to view remarkable African species in two special settings. Visit the Giraffe Center, where you may hand-feed endangered Rothschild’s giraffes from a platform that brings you to eye level with these majestic giants, who gently snatch food with their long blue tongues. At the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, watch young elephants at play with attentive keepers, who explain the process of reintroducing the elephants into the wild. Continue to the Oloolua Forest, once a hiding place for the Mau Mau Freedom Fighters during the war for independence but today a tranquil respite from the city. Here you enjoy an A&K-exclusive forest folklore stories experience, listening to tales handed down from one generation to the next, followed by lunch. Afterwards, relive a small part of Kenya’s colorful history at the Karen Blixen Museum located in her former home, Mbogani House, made famous by the film Out of Africa.
